The 3×5 Box Organiser Method
Let me ask you a few questions:
- Do you have too many things to do but so little time?
- Do you find it hard to focus on your projects?
- Do you feel sometimes that you seem to have too many ideas but just never end up getting them done?
- Are you a great starter but a terrible finisher?
If you answered yes to the above questions, then you are not alone.
Introducing The 3×5 Box Organiser Method. This concept has been around for quite sometime and many successful people such as Dan Kennedy uses this method too!
I’ve been applying the 3×5 Box Organiser Method in my life and so far, I’ve received excellent results from it.
I found with personal experience that if I write down the things I want to complete on a digital file on my computer, I only complete maybe 20% of the tasks on the list, or sometimes I even completely ignore the document.
I was so inspired yesterday with an instant idea I congured up only 24 hours ago, to record a video that gives you “how to” information in organising your life - using the 3×5 Box Organiser Method. This method has helped me taken massive action in getting my projects done and also most importantly helped me focus on the most valued tasks.
I found that the 3×5 Box Organiser Method also helps you store various ideas on a physical database so it actually frees up your brain space so you can absorb more information.
Call me crazy if you want but I must admit, there’s something powerful behind this method and the act of physically seeing your idea on a single 3×5 index card activates some unknown force.
Anyway, I’ve recorded a 5-6 minute video on how to set up the 3×5 Box Organiser Method, how to use it and also a few examples.
Enjoy!
Hi Khoa, your little box is an idea but I’m not sure if its the right one. everyone is different in the way they like to document or write down lists of things to do or ideas.
For me i use two diaries, one in my truck and one on my office desk. during to day if i have any ideas or things i need to do i write in my diary in my truck. Generally every day i take my diary from my truck and read it in my office.
If during the day I have had a important phone call etc i would re-enter the information into my diary on my deck.
My point is by writing things down more than once you tend to remember better and because everything these days is date driven what better to use diaries also to mention that its all in one book.
cheers and happy New Year.

Thanks Scott, great to hear from you again mate!
I completely agree with you.
Everyone is different, some people like writing their todo list on a word document, some on two diaries, some on their calendar and some on a 3×5 box organiser.
Personally, I think what you’ve suggested is also a great idea to write your ideas on two diaries so your list is “imprinted” in your head. Very clever!
Cheers Scott for the feedback, have a glass of red for me

Hey Khoa,
Great concept and I can see the advantages of it; it can be tailored to personal and individual needs.
P.S. I hope that picture of the horses in the background is in the South corner of your office to strengthen the Fame & Recognition sector:)
Wow..I’ve never heard of that method..cool stuff man!
Hi Khoa,
Thanks for sharing your fantastic idea with us! You ROCK!
Sounds great to me but I would still somehow manage to lose my cards!!!he he I personally use a diary and haven’t lost it yet!
Cheers

[...] Bui instead adopted a much more old-fashioned method: using a file box with index cards to store and categorise tasks. Check the video for details of his system. Now, I suspect this method isn’t for everybody: I much prefer having this kind of thing on my BlackBerry, because then it’s always with me and it’s easy to back up, and many others work best with a purely online solution like Remember The Milk. But if you like keeping your planning firmly in the physical world, it’s a good tactic. The 3×5 Box Organiser Method [...]
